Abdul Sattar, an alleged key suspect in last year's serial blasts in Bangalore, was on Wednesday handed over to Karnataka police by the Counter Intelligence Cell of Andhra Pradesh police.
A local court granted transit remand of Sattar to Karnataka Police which sought his custody for further interrogation in connection with the Bangalore blasts.
E T Zainudheen (57), alias Abdul Sattar, a native of Malappuram in Kerala, was allegedly involved in terror activities in different parts of the country and was arrested from Hyderabad yesterday.
Sattar a close associate of Riyaz Bhatkal, a key leader of terror group Indian Mujahideen (IM), was wanted by Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala police.
Sattar, a radio mechanic, has confessed that he had prepared circuits placed with timers in explosives that rocked Bangalore last year and also made timer devices that were found in unexploded bombs at various locations in Surat last year, a senior police official told PTI.
Sattar is a part of IM's "southern brigade" and had given shelter to Riyaz and other IM members at his house here in October last year after the serial blasts in Delhi and Gujarat, the official added.
