BJP criticises police role in ?organising? rally

THE STATE BJP today condemned the ?police role? in organising the Samajwadi Party-sponsored rally in the State Capital on Sunday. It also expressed surprise over DGP Yashpal Singh being awarded the President?s Police Medal despite the fact that Jungle Raj prevailed in the State and the law and order situation was at its lowest ebb.

In fact, the SP rally was organised by the police and the whole department was busy for the many days to mobilise people for the rally, the BJP alleged.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, State BJP spokesman Hirdya Narain Dixit said recovery of 1,254 live cartridges from a constable in Etah and mobile phones and other objectionable material from Lucknow and other jails, and a parallel administration run by criminals in Ghazipur jail, were other indicators of the worst-ever law and order situation.

It was strange that the DGP of a State where the police were helping criminals and harassing innocent people, including workers of different political parties, was awarded the President’s Medal, probably for his loyalty to the ruling political party and its leaders, Dixit said adding that it would further demoralise upright, efficient and honest officers, who had been cornered as they did not serve the purpose of the Samajwadi Party.
