As the election campaign for the Mandi byelection is gradually picking up, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday demanded shifting of the Kullu deputy commissioner and the Kinnaur superintendent of the police.
The party filed a complaint with chief electoral officer Narender Chauhan. The saffron party anticipated that officers in the complaint list would influence the elections.
In a letter to the state chief election commissioner, party spokesman Ganesh Dutt said there were many officers in the six districts, where the election code had been imposed, who belong to the Mandi parliamentary constituency.
“They have been appointed there to complete the election process. We have requested to shift these officers to other districts to ensure unbiased election process,” he added.
Kinnaur superintendent of police, deputy commissioners of Mandi, Lahaul and Spiti and Kullu, Rampur deputy superintendent of police, Rampur sub-divisional magistrate and the station head officer, Rampur, fall under the Mandi parliamentary constituency, he said.
Lashing out at the Congress rule at the Centre, Dutt said the impact of the Congress rule was also visible in the state. He said inflation rate had escalated during the Congress-led UPA, while the gross domestic product had declined considerably.
