Congress star campaigner Rahul Gandhi on Sunday accused BJP of dividing the society and pledged to fight against communal and divisive forces.
"There are only two forces in Indian politics - one makes people fight and the other unites them," he told reporters here on the sidelines of his roadshow when asked to comment on the future of a third front.
Charging BJP with dividing the society on communal lines since independence, Rahul said that party was seeking votes from the minority community. Even some time back, 3,000 members of minority community have been killed, he said in an apparent reference to Gujarat riots.
"We will continue to fight them (communal forces). We have to fight those who have been disintegrating the country," he said, adding the number of seats his party was expected to win was not the main issue.
"I will be here even if we do not get a single seat," Rahul, who is contesting from Amethi Lok Sabha seat, said.
To a question on a number of opposition leaders wanting to be Prime Minister, Gandhi said people should be optimistic.
When asked to comment on Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's remarks that politics was not a child's play, a reference to him and his sister Priyanka, he said "I do not want to give any reaction. I appreciate the Prime Minister's comment. I appreciate that he thinks we are 'baccha (child)', and I give him my respects".
