BJP youth wing leader held for harassing woman

A BJP Yuva Morcha leader was arrested in Guntur district for allegedly sending abusive mails to a woman, Cyberabad police said on Monday. The accused was earlier arrested in May last year by the police following a complaint by the victim.

A BJP Yuva Morcha leader was arrested in Guntur district for allegedly sending abusive mails to a woman, Cyberabad police said on Monday.

Gajula Venkaiah Naidu was arrested from his hometown Tenali in Guntur district on Sunday based on a recent complaint filed by the woman. He was brought to Hyderabad where he was produced in a local court, they said.

Naidu is accused of sending abusive mails, morphing photos of the complainant and threatening to publish them, police said in a statement.

The accused was earlier arrested in May last year by the police following a complaint by the victim.

After being released from jail, the accused started harassing her following which the woman had tried to commit suicide by consuming poison in October last year, police said.

The woman and the accused knew each other and it was revealed that she had borrowed money from him for purchasing a flat.

The accused, taking undue advantage of his position, started sending her objectionable photos and abusive messages, police said.

A case was registered by Cyber Crime police station under relevant sections of I-T and IPC, they said adding that further investigation is on.
