He was speaking on the concluding day of the two-day workshop on ‘Right To Information and Media’ in Varanasi on Wednesday. The workshop was organized under the joint auspices of Society for Media and Social Development, and AMIC India.
“RTI act helps appellants in two different ways. Either problem of the appellant is solved or he can knock the door of judiciary with whatever information he gets from the Information Commission,” Kejariwal said. ‘Since the process for the disposal of cases is lengthy and time taking, a separate Fast Track Court should be set up in every state where the appellant can get justice within 3 months’, the CIC said. Kejariwal also added that the information commission had been facing hardships in implementation of its orders. He cited several examples in which the concerned parties had challenged the order of Information Commission in court. ‘Under such a scenario, media can play a vital role to build pressure for the formation of separate court building near the office of Information Commission in every state’, he said.
