The Millennium City is not just about malls, high-rises and wide roads. It is also about talented people trying to make the city a more lively and culturally rich place.
Meet Uma Prakash, 61, and Anjali Singh, 55, who are trying to bring theatre alive and share it with residents.
Anjali Singh, an economist by trade, said, “When I shifted here ten years ago, I was feeling low as the city was dull. Nothing interesting was happening here. And from here our journey started.”
Prakash and Singh have their own group called “Art” and they are trying to bring theatre to residents of NCR.
They have showcased Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapoor, Shernaz Patil, Feisal Alkazi, Maya Rao and Dilip Shanker.
‘Art’ has staged plays in proper theatres as well as in informal ones, like in residential complexes too. Currently, their play “Nehru — His Inner Story” is on at the Habitat Centre in Delhi.
“We were lost in a city that had no source of such entertainment. So both of us got together and started working. We try to collect talented people from across the country and create plays,” said art critic Prakash.
