Clinton, also a UN Special Envoy for tsunami relief, arrived in Nagapattinam on Friday afternoon by helicopter from Chennai. He first visited the district collector's office where he saw a photograph exhibition. He released a book on NGO coordination on tsunami relief and met some of the victims of the December 26 tsunami.

He later visited a shelter at the Industrial Training Institute campus, where 620 tsunami-affected families have been rehabilitated.

Interacting with the media, Clinton said he was very impressed with the coordinated effort at relief and rehabilitation by the Indian government, international aid agencies, NGOs and others.

He said his effort would now be to promote this model of rehabilitation in other countries.

Clinton said he was very impressed with the efforts towards restoration of livelihood for the victims. "I will try to ensure better marketing for the products that the self help groups here are making."

He stayed at the shelter for about 40 minutes.

Clinton arrived in India on May 25 on a three-day visit.
