Court fixes July 21 for framing charges against Vaiko

A sessions court today fixed July 21 for framing charges against Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko for various offences, including sedition.

A sessions court today fixed July 21 for framing charges against Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko for various offences, including sedition.Earlier a chargesheet was filed against Vaiko for allegedly making highly inflammatory speeches supporting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE) at a meeting here in October 2008.

Vaiko has been charged under Section 124(A) of the Indian Penal Code(waging seditious war against the government) and under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
