While the curfew was total in Sasani Gate, Dehli Gate and Kotwali areas, it would be lifted from 2 pm to 5 pm in Bannadevi and Gandhi Park areas.

A total of 192 people had been rounded up, some on charges of violating ban order and others on indulging in anti-social behaviour.

Violence had erupted after local BJP leader and trader OP Gupta was shot dead by armed miscreants.

While Bablu—one of the accused—was lynched by locals, Azimullah died of bullet wounds in a city hospital. At least nine people were also wounded in the clashes that followed.
