Defense secretary RK Mathur gets additional charge of defense research & development

After sacking Avinash Chander as head of defense research and development organisation (DRDO) and secretary defense research and development, the Modi administration asked the defense secretary RK Mathur to hold additional charge for three months.

After sacking Avinash Chander as head of defense research and development organisation (DRDO) and secretary defense research and development, the Modi administration asked the defense secretary RK Mathur to hold additional charge for three months.

The appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued order assigning additional charge to Mathur.

According to the ACC order, Mathur will hold the charge of secretary, department of defense research and development, for three months after the current incumbent Avinash Chander relinquishes the charge for three months or until further orders.

On January 14, the NDA government shocked the Defense establishment by sacking Avinash Chander, whose extension was cleared by the same government in last November.

In another appointment, the ACC has appointed Uttarakhand cadre IAS Reena Ray as additional secretary, department of school education and literacy, ministry of human resources development.
