Delhi schoolchildren get early summer break

The government has asked these schools to close from May 10 onwards for the summer break.

While adults in the Capital will have to continue bearing the scorching heat, schoolchildren got a respite on Monday with the Delhi government asking aided schools to advance their summer break by nearly a week.

The NCT government is also issuing an advisory to public schools to advance their summer vacation in view of the soaring heat, Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely told reporters after the Cabinet meeting in New Delhi.

The government has asked these schools to close from May 10 onwards for the summer break.

While the summer holidays in aided and public schools normally start after May 15, the government schools are already closed for vacations from May 1.
