The doctors have warned the aged people to take precautions before coming out in open and asked the residents to avoid sitting in room heaters and blowers for too long.

The Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital is alone reporting 70 to 80 patients suffering from upper respiratory tract infection, soar throat, bronchial asthma, breathing problems and pneumonia daily. Atleast 40 patients among them complained of cardiac complications. As many as 25 kids and school children suffering from cough and cold are also getting daily reported at the hospital OPD.

"The number of hypertensive patients have suddenly increased at the hospital due to extreme cold in the last few days. Although most of them are old cardiac patients but in this weather they suffer from certain complications or even breathing difficulty if they fail to take precautions. Such patients need to avoid exposure to cold," said senior consultant at Beli Hospital Dr Sandeep Choudhary.

"One also need to avoid early morning bath specially in open," he added.
Ayurveda practitioner Dr SK Rai said the season is particularly bad for small children and aged people. The people are getting exposed to cold because after sitting in room heaters and blowers they immediately go out in open.

The blowers are also not good for the health. They reduce the oxygen level in the room, so it is always advisable to put a bowl of water near the blower.

"Besides, being a lunatic phase the people are also suffering from depression, anxiety and restlessness," he said.
