EDB branch opens in remote Udhampur village

District development commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal inaugurated a branch of Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB) at Sundrani village of Udhampur district at a function organised here on Monday.
Speaking during the inaugural function, the DDC congratulated the villagers, saying that it would facilitate them to have bank services at their doorstep.
The DDC complemented the functionaries of Ellaquai Dehati Bank for its role in reaching out to the financially weaker sections in rural areas, which would cover almost 15 panchayats.
To connect maximum people with the bank, she asked officials to hold awareness camps in cooperation with line departments for implementation of poverty-elevating schemes in the area.
Yasha called upon villagers to come forward and avail the maximum benefits of the schemes of the bank especially designed for uplifting people living in rural areas and especially for traders and farmers. She also asked the chairman of the bank for the inclusion of Cooperate Society Responsibility initiatives through the bank for welfare of people.
Chairman of the bank AK Razdan said: “The aim of opening the branch in this remotest area was to reach out to the rural masses. Besides loan products, the bank has a number of deposit products designed for meeting investment needs of its customers.”
