A local court has convicted eleven persons and sentenced them to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2000 each for possessing illegal arms and ammunition.

The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, AK Das in his judgement at Panposh on Monday found guilty of all the accused under Arms Act and awarded punishment.

According to prosecution, the eleven accused having criminal background hatched a dacoity plan during the Durga Puja period in October 2008 and were nabbed by the police with the help of local people.
