DESPITE AN epidemic-like situation in Asraura and Kutubpur villages in Phulpur, the slides collected from suspected malaria cases in these villages are yet to be tested by the Phulpur Community Health Centre.
At least five to seven suspected malaria patients were identified in these villages and were provided chloroquine tablets by the doctors team on Monday.
As many as 20 diarrhoea and viral fever patients were also identified in the Asraura and Kutubpur villages after which the Phulpur CHCs team jumped into action. Four diarrhoea patients were also admitted to the Phulpur CHC.
A doctors’ and paramedical team was again sent to Asraura and Kutubpur on Tuesday to take stock of situation. The OT tests of drinking water was conducted and chlorine tablets were distributed to the patients.
Phulpur CHC Dy superintendent Dr Ashutosh claimed that no new cases of diarrhoea or viral fever were reported on Tuesday. The slides of suspected malaria patients collected in these two villages were yet to be tested. “But still we had provided chloroquine tablets to them as a precautionary measure. The four diarrhoea patients admitted to the CHC have also recovered. The medicines were also provided to seven viral fever patients in Kutubpur and 13 patients in Asraura,” he added.
Dr Ashutosh said one more team was also sent to these two villages to ensure that all the patients received medicines and other assistance from the CHC. The team was expected to give its report late evening.
