Ex-militant shot dead in Shopian
Unidentified gunmen killed an ex-militant in Shopian in South Kashmir on Saturday evening. According to the police, the militants fired upon a released ex-militant, Shabir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Jamnagri Shopian.

According to the police, the militants fired upon a released ex-militant, Shabir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Jamnagri Shopian.
The youth succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
"Unidentified militants shot at an ex-militant of Hizbul Muhahideen, namely Shabir Ahmed Mir, at his home in Chaki Jam Nagri Shopian. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way," a police spokesman said.
Official sources said Mir was an ex district commander of HM outfit and was active from 2002 to 2007. He was arrested and later released after serving a specific period in jail.
Police sources revealed that Mir was not involved in any kind of militant or separatist activity after his release.
