The eyes of a three-year-old boy who died recently have illuminated the dark lives of two girls in Varanasi.
Scripting an inspiring saga of compassion and sacrifice, Prem Kumar Barnwal of Ghazipur district, a mason-cum-contractor, donated the eyes of his only son Jayant, who died on February 26, to the two girls. Jayant had died of complications from septisemia with multiple organ failure at Pediatrics Department of BHU Hospital on February 26.
Convinced after counselling by senior doctors,including Head of Depeartment Prof OP Mishra and Dr Rajniti Prasad, Prem Kumar and wife Kiran conquered deep shock of losing their only son by donating his eyes to Eye Bank functioning at Department of Ophthalmology since 2004.
