Carjackers seem to have evolved a new trick to prey on women motorists in the Millennium City. A 22-year-old woman was robbed of her Maruti Swift Dzire on Monday by a man who took the car keys from the victim posing as a parking attendant.
This is the second such incident in less than a week.
Monday's robbery took place at Central Arcade Market in DLF City Phase 2. Vinita Ray, a resident of Palam Vihar, was approached by the carjacker who offered help to park her car in the parking lot. As she gave him the key, the man drove away with the vehicle while the victim looked on helplessly.
"A man carrying some cash and tickets asked me for the keys to park the car. I gave him the keys. He applied back gear, looked left and right and drove off straight towards the highway," Ray said.
The victim's husband, Surjit Ray, said the car was bought three months ago. "My wife tried to stop a biker to chase him but by the time she could explain the matter, the carjacker fled the spot."

{{/usCountry}}A similar incident took place on August 28 in Palam Vihar, where a 65-year-old woman was robbed of her Maruti Wagon-R after she gave the key to a man for parking the car. The victim, Swee keuw yap Rahman, who hails from Singapore, is a retired professor from Delhi University.
