Four debt-burdened farmers have allegedly committed suicide in Washim and Akola districts last week, police said on Monday. Thirty-year-old Baban Fakira Bhimte from Krishna village of Washim took the extreme step by consuming poison on March 24 following constant failure of crops and loan burden, they said.

Janrao Bhimrao Wankhade (50) from Washim district's Ramtek village also allegedly consumed poison to end his life on March 20, police said.
Another debt-burdened farmer, Gajanan Namdeo Tank, ended his life by hanging from the ceiling of his house in Juni Basti Murtizapur tahsil in Akola district on Saturday.
Ramesh Yadavrao Nemane (50), who was frustrated with the crop failures, hanged self at his residence at Pasarni village of Washim district on March 24, police added.
