The Wadala Truck Terminus police have registered a first information report (FIR) against a mob for allegedly roughing up a crew shooting for documentary filmmaker Rakesh Sharma’s forthcoming film.
A police officer confirmed that an FIR had been filed and said investigations were on.
Sharma, who received a copy of the FIR on Sunday, said nobody had been named in the report. “It was filed based on an e-mail sent to the deputy commissioner of police of that zone,” said Sharma, “not on any of the complaint letters we sent.”
Sharma has also written to Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor objecting to certain points in the FIR.
“The policemen on duty at the spot as well as personnel from the wireless van are witnesses to the incident and know of the perpetrators,” Sharma said, in his letter to Gafoor. “The FIR makes no mention of anyone, identifies no one, but an anonymous crowd of 150 people.”
The local assistant commissioner of police will record Sharma’s and his crew’s statements. Sharma also wants the damages to his tapes to be treated as a serious violation.
Sharma’s three-member crew was roughed up by a mob after the Sankalp Sabha organised by the Dharma Raksha Manch, an organisation of heads of Hindu religious institutions, on Thursday night, after an anti-terror rally.
