Five persons have died of an 'unknown disease' in Zawlnuam, a village on the Mizoram-Tripura border, though doctors have not ruled out the possibility of the disease being cerebral malaria.
Health Minister R Tlanghmingthanga said that three experts were sent from the state capital while a doctor was despatched from the headquarters town of Mamit district to find out the cause behind the deaths and extend necessary treatment to the ailing.
The five deaths occurred with patients showing no overt sign of sickness and pain, official reports reaching here said.
The nature of the disease was 'unknown' as there was no known symptom, according to the reports.
Doctors, who visited the village on Tuesday, however suspected the disease might be celebral malaria as the area is known to be malaria-prone.
