The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the city police claimed to have busted an inter-state drug peddlers gang by arresting four persons with five kg heroin at Nagpada in south Mumbai.
The accused identified as Dinesh Vishwakarma (26), Mansingh Rajput (35), Kishor Rathod (43) and Sitaram Patidar(35), who hail from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh were caught on Friday near Maharashtra College in Nagpada when they came to sell the consignment to local drug peddlers, ANC senior police inspector Anil Jadhav told PTI.
“Acting on a tip off, we laid a trap near Maharashtra College. The accused were intercepted when they were moving about suspiciously and five kg heroin worth Rs 15 lakh in Indian market and Rs five crore in international market was seized from them,” Jadhav said.
While 1.5 kg heroin was recovered from Dinesh and Mansingh each, one kg heroin was recovered from Kishor and Sitaram each, police said.
“The four operated in Masjid Bunder, Ray road, Pydhoni and other parts of south Mumbai and used to sell the heroin to drug peddler and leave for their place,” the officer said.

{{/usCountry}}In somewhat similar case, the ANC a fortnight ago had arrested two persons -- Mohammed Iqbal Abdul Rashid (48) and Bashir Sonawala Khadi (50) -- residents of Jammu and Kashmir, for allegedly possessing charas (hashish) worth Rs 7.5 crore in international market, police said.
