Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly on Friday met Cricket Board (BCCI) President Sharad Pawar and is believed to have expressed his ire over coach Greg Chappell's recent 'disparaging' remarks on him.

Ganguly had a brief meeting with Pawar here while on his way back to Kolkata from Jaipur where he played for East Zone in the Deodhar Trophy limited overs championship.

Ganguly's meeting with the Board's supremo assumes significance in the backdrop of the recent controversy created by Chappell's interview to British newspaper 'Guardian' in which the latter said that the Kolkatan clung on to captaincy for financial reasons.

A top Board source confirmed the meeting but refused to divulge what transpired during the brief one-to-one between Ganguly and Pawar.

Ganguly was supposed to have met Pawar in Mohali on the sidelines of the second cricket Test between India and England where the BCCI chief was to inaugurate an indoor facility at the PCA stadium.

Incidentally, Pawar had met the senior members of the Indian cricket team - captain Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Anil Kumble - during the first Test in Nagpur besides separately meeting Chappell.

The BCCI also asked Chappell to refrain from making any "unwarranted remarks" about Ganguly or any other player and to restrict his comments to performance of the team.
