Two girls from the same college jointly topped the Class 12 exams of the Uttar Pradesh Intermediate Board, results of which were announced Tuesday. Girls outperformed the boys by a margin of over 10%.

Overall 95.52% girls passed the exams while the pass perecentage of boys was 84.73%.
According to board officials, two girls - Abhilasha Yagya Saini and Apoorva Verma - students of Maharani Laxmi Bai Memorial College in Barabanki, 30 km from Allahabad, scored 96.20% and stood the joint first.
The overall pass%age this year was 89.40, officials told IANS. Ashutosh Singh of Lucknow scored 89.40% and stood third in the merit list.
A total of 27,82,790 students appeared for the intermediate exams this year - 64,000 more than last year.
