The Opposition on Monday assailed the state government in Vidhan Parishad for disappearance of large number of children in various parts of the state.
Raising the issue through an adjournment motion for 39 missing children in Sultanpur and 100 in Moradabad, the BJP said that kidnapping connected with organ trade had become flourishing business in the state. The BJP leaders said Nithari serial killing was just tip of the iceberg in the state and more skeletons were likely to tumble down from the cupboard.
Ramjit Singh (BJP) said the kidnapping had become an industry in the state. He said the police had strong nexus with the criminals. Singh alleged that children kidnapping was not simply done for ransom but organ trade was also involved in it.
Sheema Rizvi (BJP) said disappearance of children had assumed serious dimension in the state. She said the government had been making tall claims about improvement in law and order but rising kidnapping cases indicated that situation had been deteriorating fast. She added Nithari had brought defame for the entire country.
Rizvi asserted that the state government was insensitive to children disappearance cases. She said in Etah rates were fixed for kidnapping. She said ransom rate of a cycle rider was Rs 50,000, for motorcycle owner and Rs one lakh for owner of four-wheeler it was Rs three to five lakh.
However, rebutting the BJP's charge, the leader of the House and Minister for Industries Khwaja Halim said the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had already announced CBI inquiry in Nithari case. He said the government had already taken action against police men for their slackness in the case. The chairman Chaudhury Sukhram Singh Yadav later rejected adjournment motion.

{{/usCountry}}Sugarcane issue: The Rashtriya Lok Dal on Monday criticised the government for not solving the problems of sugarcane farmers in the state. Raising the issue in Upper House, the RLD member Munna Singh Chauhan said the farmers in Faizabad were on warpath because of non-payment from the sugar mills. Chauhan also demanded hike in sugar cane prices. He said sugarcane farmers were lowest paid in the country.
