The victim, Bhagwanti (23), was married two years ago at Shahpuria village in the district. She was under depression as her in-laws used to harass her for not bringing enough dowry. A case in this regard was booked against Bhagwanti's in-laws.

She was living with her parents at Gigorani for the past six months. On Sunday evening, she consumed a poisonous substance and fell unconscious. She died on the way to a hospital.

The police handed over the body to the deceased's family after the post-mortem examination.
