THE DISTRICT health administration is geared up to combat any possible case of bird flu in Varanasi.
Two separate temporary wards have been set up at Shiv Prasad Gupta Divisional Hospital and Deen Dayal Hospital.
Talking to HT here, chief medical officer Dr AP Singh said no cases of bird flu were found in Varanasi, but the health administration ensured necessary arrangements to combat any possible attack of the disease.
“An orientation course is being organised at Lucknow to impart training to medical experts about any possible case of bird flu,” Dr Singh said. He added that a team of medical experts, including chest physician and pathologist, were in Lucknow to attend the orientation course.
These medical experts include deputy CMO Dr DV Prasad, chest physician Dr NP Singh and pathologist Dr Thakur.
Dr Singh further said the district health administration would constitute a task force at the district-level according to the guidelines of the State administration.
“There is no suspected case of bird flu in Varanasi, but necessary precautions have been taken by the health administration in this regard,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, animal husbandry officer Dr A Ansari has decided to take action against 20 illegal chicken shops in the city.
Dr Ansari and his team conducted raids in different localities on Wednesday and directed more than half-a dozen chicken shop owners to close their business establishments.
