Prof Jata Shankar listened to their woes and accepted the memorandum from the inmates.
It may be recalled that one of the inmates of Hindu Hostel was allegedly thrashed by another inmate on the hostel premises on Friday and the victim had lodged an FIR against Diwakar Singh, Dhruvraj Singh, Sanjay Singh, Ankur Singh, Sonu Singh and others under the SC/ST Act at the Colonelganj police station.
Following the FIR lodged against the inmates, their supporters gheraoed the Colonleganj police station demanding of the police authorities not to take action against the alleged assailant on Sunday.
The student leaders including Vikas Singh, Ashish Singh, Anuj Rai, Manoj Singh and others met Prof Jata Shankar on Monday, apprised him of the incident and handed over a memorandum.
Prof Jata Shankar said that Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Prof Jagdamba Singh has directed the Hindu Hostel authorities to provide him a report on the incident.
Prof Jata Shankar said that the report would be submitted to DSW within a day or two.
