Home minister Rajnath Singh on Friday reviewed flood situation in Assam and assured all central assistance for rescue and relief operations there.

Singh telephoned Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, who briefed him about the floods which have hit people in 13 districts.

"Central and state agencies are carrying out relief and rescue operations. I have assured the chief minister of all possible assistance from the Centre to help the people in flood-affected areas of the state," he said.

Assam's flood situation has worsened following incessant rainfall in the catchment areas affecting nearly three lakh people in 13 districts of the state.

Brahmaputra river was flowing above the danger level at Nematighat in Jorhat and Dibrugarh and was maintaining a rising trend in most of the other districts, according to a report issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
