The Haryana Urban Development Authority has decided to hand over about 12 acres of land in Faridabad to set up Metro stations for the Badarpur-YMCA chowk link to the DMRC.
The decision was taken at a meeting between senior officials of DMRC and HUDA late Friday evening. Nine metro stations will be constructed on this line in Faridabad.
“The decision is being forwarded to the state government for final approval and once that is done, the MoU between DMRC and HUDA will be signed,” Ajit Balaji Joshi, administrator HUDA, Faridabad, said.
“We have lined up another meeting with the DMRC next week. All these efforts are being made to ensure speedy work on the Metro link, which is likely to begin very soon,” Joshi added.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has already cleared the fresh alignment of the Metro link from left side of NH 2 from Badarpur, as proposed by the DMRC. “Now our next step is to start tendering the process,” said a senior DMRC official.
The DMRC had changed the alignment a few months ago. According to the earlier plan, the Metro would have run in the middle of the National Highway. This proposal had been rejected by the DMRC on the grounds that the widening of the highway will be badly affected.

{{/usCountry}}A technical team of DMRC had then proposed alignment from left side of the highway. This proposal had been pending with the NHAI since some months. The 13.8km-long Metro line to Faridabad will be elevated with nine stations including Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 27A, Badkal Mor, old Faridabad, Ajronda, Faridabad New Town and YMCA Chowk.
