A Hyderabad court will hear the bail plea of 27 students, who were arrested for staging a violent protest against varsity vice-chancellor Appa Rao Podile, on Monday.

Following the suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula, Rao had gone on a leave and resumed office on March 23.

The students have been booked on 11 charges for rioting, voluntarily causing hurt, voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty, and others.
Former Union home minister Susheel Kumar Shinde and Congress MP Rajeev Satav will meet students at the Cherlapali Jail at 11am.
Classes in the university were suspended till March 27 after the protests.
