Speaking to Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal, the PML-N's Information Secretary, over telephone, he said that if he were ever to reveal the realities of Kargil, the whole nation would react with surprise.

Strongly criticising Musharraf for maligning him, Sharif was quoted by The Nation as saying that the alleged briefing given at that time by Musharraf was for a Muzaffarabad -Khel Azad Kashmir road project, since the original Khel road was under constant fire from across the Line of Control.

Sharif also denied that former Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee had informed him about Kargil aggression. He rather lodged a strong protest about the "Pakistani intrusion".

The Chairman PML (N) Raja Zafar-Ul-Haq also confirmed that the briefing in the Khel sector by Musharraf was about the proposed road and not about Kargil.

He said that after the meeting they had left for Kotli to attend a public rally by Sikandar Hayat, where Mian Nawaz Sharif had announced an airport project.
