A group of 11 women naxalites on Friday attacked Makodi railway station of South Central Railway on the Maharashtra-Andhra Pradesh border and destroyed official documents, a senior police official said here.
"Naxals looted some telephone instruments, walkie-talkie and burnt down some papers of the station. They also raised slogans against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and the BJP," Inspector General of Police, Nagpur Range, Pankaj Gupta told PTI.
On earlier reports that a blast had occurred at the railway station, he said "there was no blast as was initially reported by police".
Additional Railway Manager of Central Railway, Nagpur Division, Padmakar Lamghare said the incident, which took place at Makodi - the border area between Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh and Chandrapur District of Maharashtra, caused disruption of rail traffic between north and south for nearly two hours.
