However, Warner will be powerless to stop others whose teams have made the playoffs from snatching away the Orange Cap.

Rajasthan Royals' Ajinkya Rahane (498) and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli (481) are next in the run-scoring charts and have a shot at the cap.

RCB's AB de Villiers (446) and Chris Gayle (423) are more than capable of turning the cap race on its head. MI skipper Rohit Sharma (432) and opener Lendl Simmons (472) have also amassed more than 400 runs.

Warner had snatched the Orange Cap for IPL's top-scorer from Rahane with his knock of 81 against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on May 11.

He also became the first to get past the 500-run mark. Rahane or Kohli may get back on top if they play well in the IPL eliminator on Wednesday.

Chennai Super Kings' Dwayne Bravo sits atop with 23 wickets. Closely following him is Mumbai Indians' Lasith Malinga with 22 wickets. But Bravo may get an extra game if CSK win the qualifier.

RCB spearhead Mitchell Starc has 18 wickets. CSK seamer Ashish Nehra is on 19.
