The performance of the Indian team in the first Test match against the Proteas in Nagpur was disappointing (Spineless India blown away in four days, February 10). It seems our players have got accustomed to shorter formats of the game like the One Day and the T20, and have lost the knack for the more enduring Test format. The blame for the defeat doesn’t fall on anyone in particular. All our players failed to deliver. Also, there have been no good replacements for seasoned Test players like Rahul Dravid and V.V.S. Laxman. The Board of Control for Cricket in India should rectify all problems before the second Test begins on February 14.
