Work at the state high court in Jammu and other sub-ordinate courts continued to suffer as the indefinite strike launched by Jammu Bar Association (JBA) demanding transfer of the Srinagar sex-abuse trial to any court outside Kashmir entered the 17th day on Friday.
Though lawyers were present in the court premises but they were not attending the cases listed in different courts, JBA secretary Abhinav Sharma said.
He said the JBA has been demanding the transfer of these cases outside Kashmir because the accused are not getting legal counsels there and atmosphere there is also "hostile".
"Lawyers of JBA are on strike to protect the faith of the people in the judicial system .. We want that rule of the law should prevail," he said.
The association will continue the strike till our demand of transferring the sex scam case from Srinagar to Jammu or any other place for a "fair" trial is not conceded, Sharma said.
