Justice Mehrotra is new Lokayukta

JUSTICE NK Mehrotra was on Thursday sworn in as Lokayukta of Uttar Pradesh, replacing Justice SC Verma, who has retired. Governor TV Rajeswar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mehrotra at Annapurna Hall of Raj Bhawan. Besides the CM, senior officers of the State Government and other dignitaries were present.

Governor TV Rajeswar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mehrotra at Annapurna Hall of Raj Bhawan. Besides the CM, senior officers of the State Government and other dignitaries were present.

After being selected to the Provincial Judicial Service (PJS) in 1969, Mehrotra started his career as a munsif magistrate. He was appointed additional district and sessions judge in 1980 and served in Kanpur and Varanasi on the post. After 1987, he was appointed as the joint secretary, Law, and Joint Legal Remembrance to the State Government. Later, he was promoted as special secretary, secretary and principal secretary in the State Law department. In 1997, he became district and sessions judge, Faizabad. Mehrotra became a judge of the Allahabad High Court on July 5, 2002 and retired from there on February 28, 2006.
