A youth was killed and a teenager critically injured when security forces opened fire on protesters in curfew-bound Baramulla district even as life across the Kashmir valley remained crippled due to a separatist-sponsored strike while violence left seven others wounded.
Fayaz Ahmad Gojri, a resident of Khanpora locality, was killed when he was hit by a bullet in the chest during protest demonstration in the locality this evening, sources said.
Earlier, 11-year-old Bilal Bashir was critically injured when a bullet hit his head when security forces fired to disperse a stone-pelting mob at Cement Bridge in Baramulla, 55 km from here.
Thousands of people in the old town violated the curfew and took out a march to protest yesterday's firing by police which left two youth dead and two others critically injured. However, they were stopped by police and paramilitary forces who resorted to teargas shelling and baton charge, the sources said adding seven persons were injured in the ensuing clashes.
