If Janata Dal member Jameela Prakasham is to be believed, it was Mahatma Gandhi who ‘inspired’ her to bite one of her colleagues in the Kerala state assembly two days ago.
“Father of the nation Mahathma Gandhi had said when women come under attack they should fight tooth and nail,” she justified. “I did what Gandhiji said in letter and spirit.”
Soon after the ruckus, Congress legislator K Sivadasan Nair had taken off his shirt to show bite marks on his shoulder. Initially, Prakasham had denied any role in the incident but later admitted she did it to protect her modesty.
“I was hit hard in the leg by watch and warden staff. Later, two Congress MLAs pushed me around. I did it to defend myself,” she said.
However, Nair said he was bitten when he was trying to protect CM Oommen Chandy who was sitting quietly when the drama unfolded.
“She rushed towards the CM... We had no other option but to prevent her. Otherwise the CM should have received her bite,” MA Waheed, a Congress MLA, said. But she denied it saying Nair deserved a better bite than this.
