Kids love Sachin, SRK

According to Cartoon Network?s Patented Indian Kids Lifestyle Research Delhi kids idolise Shah Rukh and Sachin Tendulkar.

Sometimes researches have a way of surprising you. In case you thought your 10 year old was spending most of his waking hours playing at home and staying up late, then relax. According to Cartoon Network’s Patented Indian Kids Lifestyle Research New Generations 2004 survey conducted on 6412 respondents (including mothers) aged between 7-14 years across 14 cities.

The average Delhi kid is well-balanced and only 19 per cent youngsters use the Internet. Most of them consider “parents as role models,”according to Duncan Morris, Vice President, Turner International, and “an overwhelming 54 per cent Delhi kids adore Sachin Tendulkar, while teammate Rahul Dravid is number two.

Almost 32 per cent Delhi kids feel Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan are the best, while Salman is a close second, loved by 9 per cent. Hrithik confesses to being “very touched by the love that my young fans have.” Preity Zinta emerged as a favourite. In Delhi for example, about 33 per cent kids love Preity Zinta while 15 per cent love Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukerji. Preity feels her “bubbly on screen persona makes me seem real and approachable to them.”

Delhi kids are better off than their counterparts in Mumbai, about 28 per cent Delhiites have their own bedroom, eat out more often (almost 64 per cent Delhi kids eat out once a month, 83 per cent play at home on school days and 57 per cent is in bed by 10 p.m. While television is a favourite with kids, 56 per cent kids still enjoy playing cricket.
