"A strong bond exists between India and Pakistan through cricket which can play a great role in lessening tensions between the two countries," Yadav, who also heads the Bihar Cricket Association, told a function to mark the 'Khel Diwas' at the Srikrishna memorial hall.

"The NDA Government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee is destined to fall in the next election. Once a secular government is in place in Delhi, I will see to it that Indo-Pak cricketing ties are resumed and the first match is played at the Moinul Haq stadium here.

"All sports, particularly cricket has the ability to end the bitterness between the two neighbours," he said.

Yadav, who recalled his fond memories of Pakistan visit, told the gathering that how an old man burst into tears and embraced him in a crowded marketplace saying how much he missed India.
