Britain’s Prince William has been nicknamed Posh by Sandhurst cadets because of his rich plummy voice.

His brother Harry, who passed out of the military academy last week, was dubbed Taff as he was known as Cadet Wales.

"Everybody thinks Sandhurst is full of public school boys but the reality is it's not as stuck up as it once was. William is one of the genuinely posh lads there, hence his nickname,” a source was quoted by The Mirror, as saying.

"It was first coined by some of the lads in his intake and it's meant with affection. But let's be honest, it's not very imaginative, is it? I mean, he's the heir to the throne and belongs to one of the richest families in the country so of course he's going to be posh," he added.

Harry, 21, who became an officer last week and is poised to join the Blues and Royals, was nicknamed Taff by instructors at the army college in Camberley, Surrey.

"Because Harry is such a high-profile member of royalty and he was the first brother at Sandhurst fellow recruits were reluctant to call him names. But the instructors called him Taff. It's really a nod to his surname and seemed appropriate," he said.
