Madras HC seeks transfer of Family court judge

Madras High Court Women Lawyers' Association Friday sought transfer of a Principal Family Court judge, who has been charged with 'intimacy with a head clerk of a Fast Track Court' and is facing departmental proceedings, as judge of any other court.

Madras High Court Women Lawyers' Association Friday sought transfer of a Principal Family Court judge, who has been charged with 'intimacy with a head clerk of a Fast Track Court' and is facing departmental proceedings, as judge of any other court.

'We the women lawyers feel that since departmental proceedings are pending against the judge M Mohammed Eesath Ali, he has to be immediately transferred', the association said in a letter to the Chief Justice HL Gokhale.

Earlier at an Extraordinary General Body Meeting of the association it was resolved to call for the transfer of the judge, the association said in a press release.

'There is prima facie material to proceed against the petitioner M Mohammed Eesath Ali,then Ist Additional sub-judge Tirunelveli and presently Principal Family Court Judge, by way of departmental proceedings which has been rightly resorted to by the respondents (Registrar General, High Court and the court's Registrar, Vigilance, a Division Bench, comprising Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and M Venugopal, had said yesterday.
