A man was burnt to death when his car caught fire on Noida-Greater Noida expressway on Saturday evening.
The cause of the fire is not known yet but cops suspect that a short circuit might have caused the fire. This is the second such incident this year.
Around 7.25pm, locals reported that a Maruti WagonR went up in flames on the expressway. According to an eyewitness, the car was coming from Greater Noida and was going towards Noida side. The driver stopped the car after the engine had caught fire. He tried to get out of the vehicle but the door did not open and the seat belt got stuck. CNG kit was fitted inside the car.
Locals tried to help but the fire spread rapidly, charring the driver along with the car.
Fire officials said the car was burnt before the officials and local police reached the spot. Police said the body of the driver was charred beyond recognition and they are yet to establish his identity.
The body has been sent for postmortem to a local hospital. Cops added they are trying to contact the address provided in the registration of the vehicle (HR-12-S-2682) to establish the identity of the driver.
