A 40-year-old man Monday killed his son and critically injured his wife and another son with a knife and then attempted suicide here, police said.

Mukhtar Khan attacked his wife Noor Jahan residing in Narapura locality. When his sons Owais (10) and Obaid (8) raised an alarm, they also faced his wrath, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) A Goswami said.
Khan then tried to slit his own throat, police said.
His neighbours, hearing the screams, came to the rescue of the victims and rushed them to a hospital in Bhopal where Obaid died, police said, adding condition of Noor Jahan was critical.
Police were yet to ascertain the reason behind Khan's violent behaviour.
A case has been registered against Khan under relevant sections of IPC and investigations were on, police said.
