According to Fox News quoting the Buffalo News, Joel chlesinger could have got away with the maximum fine of 15 dollars, but he thought that he should pay the full fine and worked out the amount for fine himself.

Schlesinger said that he came across the book 'The Joy of Camping'while going through boxes in his attic and handed it to the Orchard Park public library with a cheque of 2,190 dollars.
