A man walked into the emergency ward of Meerut Medical College hospital on Friday evening, slit his target’s throat and left the hospital, exposing the safety at government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh.
The attendants of the other 30 patients confirmed they had seen someone suspicious in the ward on the day of the murder. The police are however, still clueless and have blamed the hospital for not conducting proper identity checks of visitors.
48 hours into the incident, the police are yet to establish the identity of the deceased and the reason behind the murder.
According to details the police have so far, the victim was reportedly pushed off the Jalandhar Express near cantonment station by his killers and had suffered head and hand fractures.
He was spotted by railway sweepers and admitted to the district hospital on Thursday afternoon by the Railway Protection Force. He was then referred to Meerut Medical College hospital where an unidentified assailant slit his throat at around 4:30pm in the emergency ward on Friday.
The ward boy on duty was allegedly asleep when the incident happened, and was the first to inform the doctors about the incident after he woke up.

{{/usCountry}}“The slain person and his assailant are yet to be identified and the investigation teams are collecting all possible clues to solve the case,” said SSP Omkar Singh admitting security lapses in the hospital.
Chief medical superintendent Dr Suhash Singh termed the incident as an assault on patient-doctor trust.
