Karnataka Police on Tuesday announced a Rs 2 lakh reward for information that can help them in nabbing the three culprits involved in the alleged abduction and gang-rape of a medical student Karnataka's Manipal area last week.
"The department will give Rs 2 lakh as reward to anyone giving us correct information about the accused to speed up the investigation process," Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Pratap Reddy told reporters in Manipal, after failing to trace the culprits or locate the autorickshaw in which the victim was abducted late June 20.
A major educational centre, Manipal is 5 km from the famous Udupi temple town on the west coast of the state and about 410 km from Bangalore.
Updating the progress of investigation, Reddy released footage of the CCTV camera, which captured the suspected auto going out of the Manipal University campus gate where the victim was kidnapped by the accused around 11.35 pm on June 20 and re-entering the campus at 02:37 am on June 21 to drop her at her apartment.
In response to the sketch of one of the suspects released Monday for tip-off from public, Reddy said the control room received a couple of calls from Kerala and five-six calls from local areas during the day to inform police that they had seen some people resembling the face in the sketch.

{{/usCountry}}"On inquiry, however, we found that they were not the ones we are looking for," Reddy said.
The incident occurred when the victim, a fourth-year student of the Kasturba Medical College, was waiting to hire an auto outside the campus gate to return to her flat.
