Security has been beefed up around the All India Radio station at Adityapur in adjoining Saraikela-Kharswan district after AIR officials received a letter, reportedly from the Maoists, threatening to blow up the station.
The officials received a letter from the Communist Party of India (Maoist) through courier addressed to the Assistant Director of the Radio station, asking the AIR to stop broadcasting a programme 'Ek Naya Sabera' (A new morning) based on the extremists, said the Superintendent of Police, Laxman Prasad Singh.
Singh, who inspected the security arrangements at the radio station today, said "though we suspect it as the handiwork of miscreants, yet we do not want to take any chance".
"We have been investigating the authenticity of the letter", Singh said, adding that security arrangements at the station have been tightened.
When asked about the letter, reportedly signed by the area commander of a zonal committee, AIR sources, however, said they did not have any knowledge of any such letter.
